1916- German chancellor Bethmann Hollweg described Britain's war aim as " our existence as a nation is to be crushed," he told the Reichstag, "militarily defenceless, economically crushed and boycotted by the world, condemned to lasting sickness that is the Germany which England wants to see her at her feet. Britain wanted to see france weakened by being bled to death, to have all the allies doing slave work for england, and to secure the submission off all the neural states of Europe. 'Great Britain is of all the most egoistic and fiercest , the most obstinate enemy. The german statesman who would HESTITATE to use against this enemy every available instrument of battle that will really shorten the war- such a statesman should be HANGED.'"

1918- When german troops entered the french town of Soissons, which was 40 miles from paris, retreating french troops shouted out to the advancing americans re-inforcements not to bother as the war is over since paris are already in full range of the German artillery. After russia surrendered under lenin's order, german soldiers once fighting on the Eastern front were deployed immediately to the Western front to participate in a decisive offensive to wipe out France and end the war before more American troops land on the continent and threaten Germany.
